Nathan Jones - Technical Advisor - Environmental and Permitting
Mr. Jones has over a decade or permitting and planning experience and currently serves as a Senior Natural Resources Team Lead in SWCA’s Salt Lake City office. In this role he is responsible for growing a multidiscipline team including project managers, biologist, archaeologists, and water resources scientists.
In addition to his team lead role Mr. Jones serves as a senior project manager on multidiscipline projects including oil and gas pipelines, mining, transportation, renewable generation (solar, wind, hydrogen and geothermal), and commercial development. These projects are located throughout Utah, Idaho and Wyoming and involve all levels or local, state, and federal permitting and occurring both private, state and federally owned/managed lands.
His technical expertise encompasses aquatic resources and Clean Water Act regulatory permitting and has successfully managed projects through the Nationwide Permit process and the Individual Permit Process across the U.S.
He was a United States Marine who volunteered for two tours in Iraq, and he hold a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Business from the Virginia Military Institute, and a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a concentration in ecology and conservation from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
Curtis Johnson Ph.D. - Technical Advisor
Curtis Johnson received his M.S. degree in geology in 2015 from Oregon State University (OSU) under Dr. John H. Dilles and received his Ph.D. degree in 2020 at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) studying the Phoenix-Fortitude porphyry-skarn system, and regional controls on gold mineralization in the Great Basin, USA. After completing studies at OSU in 2015 and prior to joining UNR in 2017, Curtis Johnson worked in production and exploration roles for Newmont Mining Corporation in the northern Carlin Trend, at the Phoenix Mine in Nevada, regionally in the western USA, and as a senior economic geologist with EMX Royalty Corporation focused on gold project generation in Idaho and Nevada. He is not the President and CEO of Scout Discoveries, an exploration company based in Coeur d'Alene Idaho that is focused on discovery.
Samuel Bereiter - Technical Advisor - Drilling
Sam learned how to drill not long after finishing high school. Due to his high level of intelligence and personal drive he worked his was from drill helper to drill foreman in record time, becoming one of the youngest foremen in the history of Timberline Drilling Company, one of the biggest drilling contractors in North America. Sam is a wizard with drilling- if it needs to be diamond drilled he is the person who can do it.
